Litters and pups

Set up a litter with its dam and sire, add its pups, log weights and care for the whole litter at once, and chart each pup's weight gain.

A litter groups a set of pups with their dam and sire, so you can see the whole litter together and record things for every pup at once.

Creating a litter

Go to the Litters tab and tap the add button. Give the litter a name, which is the only required field. Then add:

  • Breed and birth date.
  • Dam and sire. Pick from your dogs. Only females are offered as the dam, and only males as the sire.
  • Useful info.

Adding pups

Open the litter and tap Add pup. Each pup is a full dog profile, linked to the litter, so everything in Adding and managing your dogs applies to pups too.

When you add pups one after another, the next form keeps the breed and birth date from the last one, so you only type what's different.

Recording for the whole litter

Use Add record to all pups to log one record against every pup in the litter at once. It works for:

  • Weights
  • Vaccinations, wormings, flea treatments and treatments
  • Feeds and diets
  • Notes

Archived pups are left out, so a pup that has already gone home isn't included.

Tracking weights

Each pup's Weights list records the date, time and weight. You can enter weights in grams, kilograms, pounds or ounces. Once a pup has two or more weights, the list shows a chart, so you can see at a glance that it's gaining.

When pups go home

When a pup leaves for its new home, archive it. It stays in the litter with all its records, but no longer shows in your everyday lists or in Add record to all pups.
